My heart was broken when I first laid eyes on Nanook, a sweet and innocent puppy, at the AMA Center. Nanook’s story was one of resilience and survival, as she was discovered by a police officer in a garbage bag, malnourished and unable to move or lift her head. It was clear that she had been through unimaginable suffering

After more than 10 hours of intensive care, Nanook showed signs of improvement, but she still couldn’t stand up. The vet discovered that the muscles in her legs had atrophied, indicating that she had been kept in a small space, possibly a crate, for extended periods of time, lying in her own urine.

Despite all the pain and trauma she had endured, Nanook remained a sweet and loving puppy. Slowly but surely, we saw progress in her recovery. She underwent daily physical therapy and was given medication to help with her healing. Nanook’s spirit shone through as she eagerly played with her new toy, possibly the first toy she had ever had.

Nanook’s journey to recovery was not easy. There were still many challenges to overcome. Her wounds, both physical and mental, needed time to heal. But she persevered, enjoying her physical therapy sessions and showing incredible resilience.

After two weeks of care and love, Nanook began to show signs of improvement. She was able to stand up and take a few steps on her own. It was a heartwrenching sight to see her struggle, but she tried her hardest, always wearing a smile on her face and showing her love to everyone around her.

Nanook’s progress was slow but steady. She gained weight and looked much better, thanks to the dedicated care of the AMA Center staff. With their support, Nanook continued to make strides in her recovery, learning how to walk again and regain her strength.

Every day, Nanook waited eagerly at the door for her caregivers, her sweet personality shining through. Although her muscles were weak and she struggled to maintain her balance, she never gave up. She continued to try her best, always showing her unwavering determination.

After weeks of hard work, Nanook took her first steps outside with support. It was a heartwarming moment, a testament to her incredible progress. She had gained 5 kilos and looked healthier than ever, a true fighter who had come a long way.
